PolyU Entrepreneurship Parade 2019 aims to facilitate exchange of views on innovation and entrepreneurship; and help participants develop a "Do Well Do Good" entrepreneurial mindset and spirit. The event will bring together an amazing and diverse community of our supported start-ups to share about their businesses in the public showcase. A 3-day-public exhibition will follow!
PolyU Institute for Entrepreneurship
In pursuit of knowledge transfer and entrepreneurship, the Institute for Entrepreneurship (IfE) of PolyU was established to serve as an important platform between academics and business. By harnessing the expertise and resources of the University, IfE fosters and enables entrepreneurship development, supports industry innovations, and strengthens the competitive edge of enterprises in the global marketplace.
Located in Jockey Club Innovation Tower on the PolyU campus as well as the PolyU Shenzhen Base in the Nanshan District in Shenzhen, PolyU InnoHub was established in March 2017 as a strategic initiative to further develop PolyU’s leading position in driving innovation and entrepreneurship in the region. It aims to build a regional partnership network to foster start-ups exchange and mutual soft landings, and to facilitate multi-disciplinary cross-sector collaborations and co-creations to advance knowledge transfer and entrepreneurship in the region.

Dr Abraham Lam
Director of MEGA Automation & FUSQUARE
Dr Abraham Lam is the director of MEGA Automation Ltd. and Shenzhen FUSQUARE Technology Ltd. He acquired his Ph.D from the Department of Computing, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He has abundant experience in building automation and smart building applications. Knowing the difficulties and challenges from industries, Dr Abraham Lam is keen to apply ICT technologies into the built environment and smart city. He is also an active evangelist in promoting ICT solutions for facility and energymanagement. He developed the ISO 50001-based energy management system (EnMS) platform, which connects building automation system (BAS) of building with the EnMS; showing the energy portfolio of equipment and system efficiency information on-demand basis. The development has been covered by various media towards his contribution to the sustainable city. He was awarded the Greater Bay Area (GBA) Youth Leader in 2018for his outstanding performance and excellent leadership, and he was interviewed frequently by various media including TV channels, newspapers and radios.
Eva co-founded WEDO GLOBAL and has been working with ethnic minorities and designing interactive cultural activities for schools, corporations and NGOs in Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Cambodia, Singapore and Sri Lanka. Till now, over 12,000 participants from schools, corporates, and other organizations joined their multicultural workshop, community tours or training. In 2017, she attended an Executive Program in Social Entrepreneurship at Stanford Graduate School of Business.She has a multitude of work and project management experience. She is currently the member of Commission on Poverty, Social Enterprise Advisory Committee, Social Welfare Advisory Committee of the HKSAR Government as well as RTHK Board of Advisors, and has an extensive network with schools, corporates, NGOs and Government.

Edwin Wong is the CEO of Cloudbreakr, an AI powered influencer marketing platform. He has focused on influencer marketing & analytics for years, with an aim to empower pioneers and brands to share the stories that influence people. The marketing technology company focuses on big data analytics and machine learning to optimize influencer marketing performance. With less than 3 years, he works with the team to expand the company from Hong Kong to Malaysia, and provide the software to over 10,000 marketers. The analytics and marketing solution now cover more than 7 Asia countries.

J&K Brassiere Co., Limited
BRACODE is a lingerie brand that uses 3D scanning technology to capture human body data and then provides semi-customised bra according to customers’ body data. Since over 90% of women in the world are wearing the wrong bra size, BRACODE’s solution can provide a higher accuracy in both body and product data. They also aim to develop a 3D scanning machine that can be fully automated so that customers can do the scanning and purchase within the machine by herself without interference from salesperson.

PolyU Micro Fund Scheme 2018
Animomo aims to promote social integration by providing an interactive storytelling mobile app with a physical animal toy set, which are designed for children regardless of their visual abilities. The toys are embedded with a Bluetooth module for connecting them with the games in the app. Using the tactile mat on the mobile device and selecting different story scenarios in the app, visually impaired children and sighted ones can create stories together with the toy set and share their feelings.

MEIKING NG is a designer brand featuring significant experimental Multi-Wearable structure in term of combining two designs in one piece by just “Flipping Like Magic”! Incorporating unique design and sophisticated structure, meticulous to both inner and outer craftsmanship to maximise the use of product, this design also reduces wastage of materials and provides more options while freeing the space of ladies’ closet in the limited living space of Hong Kong. A graduate of PolyU and Royal Academy of Fine Art Antwerpen – Fashion Department, Meiking Ng is a former senior designer of a famous Parisian label – Guy Laroche.

Aco Studio Limited aims to integrate design and technology to provide personalised learning experience for Special Education Needs (SEN) children.
Their first project, “Card Adventure”, is an educational app which adopts multisensory learning and game learning, combines word cards, digital game and augmented reality (AR), and aims to improve the sensory integration, perceptual motor and Chinese language ability of dyslexic children.

PolyU Tech Launchpad Fund Scheme 2018-19
Degree (Hong Kong) Education Consulting Limited aims to develop one-stop service platform for mainland students in Hong Kong offering residence rental, cross-border logistics, job hunting consultancy and other landing support.
The App “HKOK” currently has 50,000 users, covering over 70% of the new mainland Chinese students coming to Hong Kong every year with a 10% increase of new users every month. In addition to the HK$1 million funding support from PolyU, Degree (Hong Kong) Education Consulting Limited has secured over HK$5.25 million further investment.
Labwork Technology Limited
Labwork focuses on remote sensing and automation with cloud technology, offering remote laboratory to local middle schools as a spin-off from PolyU.
Through the remote laboratory platform, students can practise science experiments with real equipment outside school anytime anywhere, allowing a personalised way of learning and the access to dangerous or complicated experiments. Schools can now save laboratory set-up time and start a new chapter of science education with Labwork.

Unicow Education & Technology (International) Holdings Limited is an EdTech service company driven by educational content and creativity, founded by a group of tech-savvies and language professionals in 2017. Unicow is committed to developing augmented reality (AR) for education.

Fund-Land Technologies is developing a novel business model integrating hospitality and financial services. The centralised online exchange enables the registered hotels to offer exclusive rates to a customer pool. For small and medium enterprises, the prepaid membership can be financed by financial institutions through Fund-Land as well.
Snakietrip offers consolidated sources of information to travelers for easier itinerary planning. Striving to be the most trustworthy website, Snakietrip compares local travel products across different online travel agents and recommends best deals for users, including local transportation, mobile data plans, attraction tickets, restaurants and bars and special interest.

NextWiFi offers business WiFi solutions to SMEs and free internet access to smartphone users by providing more WiFi hotspots at low cost. Through NextWiFi’s business WiFi routers, merchants may engage customers proactively by sending pop-up messages, local information, entertainment (video, audio, games) and social networking services. By analysing traffic and customer preferences in stores or nearby, merchants may better strategise marketing campaigns to boost their sales and businesses.
NextWiFi’s system currently covers 30 High-speed Railway Stations in Guangdong, Guangxi and Hainan provinces in mainland China. The system is also under installation in 50 more stations. Since its incorporation in 2014, NextWiFi has secured over HK$1.5 million further investment, in addition to HK$1 million funding support from PolyU.
FUSQUARE is a science and technology start-up that integrates scientific R&D and application. The management team and founders are Hong Kong experts specialising in research and building controls who build Internet of things (IoT) with their self-developed intelligent hardware. The company provides cloud platform for monitoring and data analysis services by collecting various operational data from different environments and equipment based on the smart building controls, and provides various value-added services for the big data of smart cities.
Meanwhile, FUSQUARE offers intelligent control systems for commercial buildings and projects. Capitalizing its self-developed systems and algorithms, the company is able to automatically regulate and optimise the operation of building's equipment and achieve the goals of energy saving and emission reduction. Users can perform different control operations through their smartphones and mobile devices anywhere, anytime.
With proprietary image processing technology, Youda can instantly analyse the customer‘s facial characteristics and provide AI-aided apparel recommendations to the salespersons of clothing stores, enabling an out-of-expectation service experience.
Sisters Pro AI Solutions Limited
Sisters Pro AI Solutions Ltd. develops “Smart Beauty Advisor”, an AI make-up advisor with the wisdom of expert consultants in fashion, beauty and image industry. Through users’ skin analysis, appearance and daily life information such as weather, the Smart Beauty Advisor provides users with professional advice and product introductions.
Avatar Rehabilitation Technology (Shenzhen) Limited Company (ART) employs virtual reality, augmented reality and mix reality technologies to develop rehabilitation simulation systems for research and clinical use. ART also provides customisation, sale or rental services, data storage and analysis, as well as clinical therapy with the rehabilitation system.
Cubedecor Workshop Ltd
In the entertainment and creative industry, professional giant puppeteers operate the puppet with high physical output and endurance. Their repeated daily operation easily strains their muscles and creates fatigue resulting from the dynamics of performance.
This invention, “Exoskeleton - to cater extreme load of giant puppet body”, is probably the first whole-body exoskeleton in the world which operates with the assistance of skate wheels and coiled spring wire. The construction of the exoskeleton is built with sturdy frame while remains flexible for dynamic movements. It supports and distributes the weight of giant puppet and wearers’ body with strategic ergonomics.
Eternal Billion (Hong Kong) Limited
Eternal Billion (Hong Kong) Ltd develops self-help medical devices and services for women preparing for pregnancy. With accurate ovulation period monitoring and AI-enabled fertility prediction, the hand-held test kit can also be used for medication monitoring of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) users.
The product has been approved by FDA and is undergoing clinical trial of CFDA. In addition to the HK$0.97 million funding support from PolyU, the company has secured over HK$1.9 million further investment and was admitted to HAX, the world famous hardware accelerator from Silicon Valley.
Medmind Technology Limited
Medmind Technology is an award-winning medical technology start-up incubated by Hong Kong Science Park. The company researches and develops innovative products to promote healthy ageing. The team is composed of university professors and healthcare professionals. They develop interactive platforms for seniors and patients, particularly regarding dementia and other mental health disorders.
Studio Doozy Limited
Studio Doozy designs and develops all-inclusive, accessible and beautiful solutions for the silver age community. As the ageing population increases, equipping homes with better accessible products and services is essential. Current products for the ageing community often make the home feel like a hospital and make users feel that they are "different". Studio Doozy aims to strip away this hostile feel.
Vision Science & Technology Co Limited
Vision Science and Technology Company Limited (VST) aims to commercialise Defocus Incorporated Soft Contact (DISC) lens for myopia control developed by School of Optometry, PolyU. Clinical trials results suggested that DISC lens can reduce myopia progression up to 60%, and are particularly beneficial for school children aged 6-18 who are in fast myopic progression period by reducing their risks of developing high myopia.
VST’s product is available for order in over 60 optometry centres in Hong Kong and has officially entered China market in mid-2019. The team targets to expand its sales network to all cities in China by 2020. Since its incorporation in 2016, VST has secured over HK$1.75 million further investment, in addition to the HK$1.1million funding support from PolyU.
